James is a qualified Chartered Surveyor, RICS Registered Valuer, a Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers and a former Chairman of the Gloucestershire and District Agricultural Valuers Association. He is experienced in a variety of professional practice areas including the disposal of rural and commercial properties, compulsory purchase and compensation, the valuation of land and property and strategic development land.

James has been involved in a number of large strategic development sites working exclusively for landowners providing advice upon both promotion and option agreements, which compliments his property valuation and agency experience.

James has worked predominately in Gloucestershire all of his professional life having previously worked for a regional firm before starting his own practice in 2010.

James is from a local farming family. In his spare time he enjoys being on the family farm with his pedigree suckler herd. When he is not surveying or farming he will be found with his young family or on his bike.

Sara joined North Letherby at the start of 2018. She is a Chartered Surveyor and a member of the British Institute of Agricultural Consultants.

Sara specialises in rural planning matters and has extensive experience in preparing and managing planning applications for rural workers’ dwellings (new farmhouses and temporary log cabins / mobile homes), a wide range of new farm buildings, nurseries, barn conversions, equestrian development, kennels, and other changes of use and farm diversification projects. Sara has gained Certificates of Lawfulness for clients and has assisted with Enforcement issues. She has worked across much of England and Wales, for farmers, landowners and on behalf of local planning authorities.

Sara also works on behalf of housing and commercial developers seeking to develop agricultural land. Working with Agricultural Land Classification surveyors, she has provided assessments of the impact of housing and commercial development upon agricultural land and farm businesses.

Sara has a rural background in Wiltshire. Following a career change from the media in 2007, Sara studied for a masters degree in Rural Estate Management at the Royal Agricultural College for which she received a Distinction.

Sara is a keen sports fan, combining her love of travel and cricket whenever possible. She keeps fit by running and maintaining some order in the garden.

Contact Harriet

Harriet studied Rural Property Management at Harper Adams University, completing her industrial work placement year in 2015 at North & Letherby. She is an Associate of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and a Commended Member of the Institute of Agricultural Management.

Harriet is involved with a wide range of professional work, particularly aspects surrounding agricultural subsidy schemes including the Basic Payment Scheme. She also has experience with land sales, valuations, compensation claims and a variety of planning applications.

Harriet is from a farming family in North Staffordshire.
